Hello beautiful people, today’s tip of the day is for anyone with forehead lines that stay visible even when the face is completely relaxed. These static lines are not only about muscle movement. They are also about skin quality, and that changes which treatment makes sense.
Dr Rami Haidar | 10th September 2025 | Excellence Medical Boutique, Dubai
Static lines are lines that remain visible when the face is at rest. They begin as dynamic lines, which appear only when a muscle contracts, such as the lines that form across the forehead when you raise your eyebrows. Over years of repeated movement, combined with gradual loss of collagen, elastin and hydration, the skin creases along the same path until the line is etched in.
That distinction matters for treatment. Botulinum toxin reduces the muscle contraction behind a dynamic line, and it can help a static line soften by stopping the crease from deepening. It does not repair the skin the line sits in. When forehead lines are visible at rest, the skin itself needs attention.
The tip from Dr Rami is direct: you cannot simply inject filler to fill in static lines. Fine lines etched into thin forehead skin are a skin quality problem, not a volume problem. Filler placed superficially in that area can look lumpy or show through the skin with a bluish tinge, and the forehead carries blood vessels where product choice and technique need particular care.Salmon DNA, the patient-friendly name for polynucleotides, works on the skin rather than underneath it. Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments that support fibroblast activity, hydration and tissue repair. Rather than pushing a line up from beneath, the treatment improves the quality of the skin the line has formed in, so the crease becomes less visible over time.
The patient in this video came to Excellence Medical Boutique with static forehead lines. Two weeks after a single session of Salmon DNA, his 3D imaging score for lines had moved from 2.2 to 2.0. The goal is to bring that score below 2.0, into the mild range, which usually takes a course rather than one session. The imaging also showed reduced redness, a reminder that polynucleotides support overall skin health and not only the line being measured.
Dynamic lines appear only when a muscle moves, such as when you frown or raise your eyebrows. Static lines remain visible when the face is at rest. Static lines usually develop from dynamic lines over time, as repeated movement and gradual collagen loss leave a lasting crease in the skin.
Filler is not usually the right tool for fine static lines on the forehead. These lines sit in thin skin, and superficial filler there can look lumpy or show through the skin with a bluish tinge. Dr Rami treats static lines as a skin quality concern, which is why regenerative treatment such as Salmon DNA is often considered first.
Salmon DNA, or polynucleotides, supports the skin’s own repair processes by encouraging fibroblast activity and improving hydration. As skin quality improves, the skin holds a crease less deeply, so static lines become softer. It does not add volume or fill the line directly.
Most patients need a course rather than a single session, commonly around three sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Improvement can be measurable after one session, as in the patient shown in the video, but results build gradually. Your number of sessions is decided after assessing your skin at consultation.
Botulinum toxin reduces the muscle movement that deepens a line, so it can help a static line soften and stop it getting deeper. It does not repair the skin itself. For lines visible at rest, Dr Rami often combines anti-wrinkle treatment with a skin quality treatment such as Salmon DNA.
Changes in skin quality develop over several weeks because polynucleotides work through biological repair rather than immediate filling. Two weeks after a session is a reasonable point to review early improvement. Further improvement usually continues across the course and in the weeks after it.
No treatment is suitable for everyone. Salmon DNA may not be appropriate for patients with a fish allergy, during pregnancy, or with active infection in the treatment area. Suitability, risks and alternatives are discussed at consultation with Dr Rami before any treatment is planned.
If you have forehead lines that stay visible even when your face is relaxed, do not assume filler is the answer. Book a consultation with Dr Rami Haidar at Excellence Medical Boutique in Jumeirah, Dubai. The assessment uses 3D imaging to measure your lines and skin quality, and looks at whether Salmon DNA, anti-wrinkle treatment or a combination of the two is right for you.
