You might end up with a little bit of a headache afterwards, because that is how the muscles react to botulinum toxin when it is the first time. I am going to explain why it happens, how long it usually lasts, and when it is worth calling the clinic.

A mild headache in the day or two after a first botulinum toxin treatment is common and usually settles on its own. It reflects muscles that have never been treated before adjusting to reduced activity, which is a normal response rather than a sign that something has gone wrong.
The muscles of the forehead and brow work constantly, and when their pull is softened for the first time, the surrounding muscles take up more of the load while everything settles. Patients who have had treatment before tend to notice this far less, because their muscles are already used to it

It reflects muscles adjusting to reduced activity rather than a problem with the treatment. Severe, worsening, or prolonged headaches should be reported to your practitioner.
For most patients it lasts a day or two and eases as the effect of treatment settles over the following week. It varies between individuals. If it continues beyond a few days or is getting worse rather than better, contact the clinic that treated you.
Dr Rami Haidar’s advice is that simple pain relief such as Panadol or ibuprofen is usually enough and nothing further is needed. Check with your practitioner first if you take other medication or have a condition affecting which painkillers are suitable for you.

Contact your practitioner if the headache is severe, worsening, or lasting more than a few days, or if you develop a drooping eyelid or brow, visual changes, or difficulty swallowing.
